Hockey Hut in Clifton Park adds indoor courts

The Hockey Hut in Clifton Park offers very popular pickleball programs on three pickleball courts under their outdoor pavilion. But the courts are not available in the winter when the facility freezes the pavilion area for skating programs.

The Hockey Hut announced that they will be converting an indoor gym area into one full pickleball court and a smaller practice court. The indoor courts will have the same sport court surface as the outdoor courts under the pavilion.

The facility is selling 40 memberships for the winter season on the court. The membership package is dubbed the Clifton Park Pickleball Club Chill Pickle Membership.

What is DUPR?
DUPR (Dynamic Universal Pickleball Rating) is the most accurate and only global rating system
in Pickleball. All players, regardless of their age, gender, location, or skill, are rated on the same
scale between 2.0-8.0 based on their match results.
How is the DUPR rating calculated?
DUPR is a modified Elo algorithm that uses a player’s last rating to update their new rating. The
algorithm considers three factors:
1. Victory: Did you win or lose? If you win, your rating will go up; if you lose, your rating will
go down.
2. Type of Result: Was this a self-posted rec play score, a club match, or a tournament
result entered by DUPR? Rec play games will count less towards your rating change.
3. Rating Difference of Opponent: If your opponent is higher than you and you win, you’ll
increase more than if your opponent is lower rated, and vice versa.
