Halfmoon pickleball player Rocco Casucci turns 90

Rocco Casucci is the kind of guy who always give you a warm hello and asks about your family.

So it’s no surprise that multiple pickleball venues threw him a birthday party when he turned 90 years old this month.

I caught up with Casucci, a retired police detective who lives in Halfmoon, at his birthday party at the Southern Saratoga YMCA.

“He is the sweetest guy,” said fellow player Teresa Wuerdeman. Many players said Casucci is an inspiration.

Casucci took up pickleball at the start of the pandemic. As a former tennis player, he learned it quickly and loved the social side of the game. He bowls two times a week and plays pickleball five times a week.

“Every chance I can,” he said.
